The Flame Angel, Centropyge loriculus, is probably the most popular dwarf angelfish in the aquarium hobby. They are found in tropical waters in the Pacific Ocean. The body is a bright reddish-orange color with vertical black lines on the body. The dorsal and anal fins are tipped with a vibrant violet-blue color.

These fish are omnivores and should be fed a mix of marine algae, angelfish food, and a variety of meaty foods. Flame Angelfish do best in peaceful aquariums that are at least 70 gallons or more and have plenty of live rock to graze on and hide in. Ideally, this will be the only angel in an aquarium.

They are considered reef safe with caution because they have been known to nip at clam mantles and both soft and stony corals. This fish is particularly sensitive to higher levels of copper in the water.
