The Blueface Angelfish, Pomacanthus xanthometopon, is also known as the Yellowface Angelfish. These fish come from the Indo-Pacific region. Juveniles have vertical blue, black, and white stripes across the entire body, including the tail. Adults have a stunning pattern of woven yellows and blues on the scales. There is a patch of yellow that makes a mask across the eyes; the tail is yellow and there is a black eyespot on the bottom of the dorsal fin.

These fish are omnivores and require a diet including marine algae, mysis and brine shrimp, and angelfish food. They are big fish and should be fed multiple times a day.

Angelfish do best in an aquarium that is at least 220 gallons or more and that has plenty of live rock to graze on and hide in. These large fish are territorial and do not do well with other other angelfish.

They are only considered reef safe with caution because they have been known to nip at clam mantles and corals.
